Apple Finally Introduces Redesigned MacBook Air

Apple has finally announced the long-awaited revamped MacBook Air that most consumers have been waiting for since the start of 2016. The new MacBook Air was first expected to be unveiled at Apple’s media event in March, but Apple decided to focus on its other flagship devices instead. The newly released 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro have been receiving great feedback ever since they were first launched, so Apple must have thought it was time to refresh their older laptop line as well.

What Makes Up the New Macbook Air

The new MacBook Air has a sharp display with a True Tone Retina display and has two times the graphical power of the previous generation. It also features a space gray or silver anodized aluminum casing. The MacBook Air, which was formerly the thinnest notebook in the world, is now even thinner at 0.7 inches and weighs 2 pounds making it easier to carry. The battery life is up to 15 hours when using wireless internet and lasts up to 12 hours when using iTunes for playback, as well as up to 30 days on standby time. Apple created a new keyboard that does not have function keys (F1-F12) but just letters on top of the letters.

How Does it Compare to the Current Model?

When comparing the new design to the older design, it becomes clear that the most notable difference is the decreased weight. The 13-inch model weighs just 3 pounds and the 11-inch model weighs 2 pounds. That is still a significant difference from the two pounds of its previous models, but it is a major improvement.

The decrease in weight has been achieved by redesigning many features, with some changes being more noticeable than others. They’ve removed ports, and screens on each side of the laptop and even reduced how many pixels are on the retina display; all to fit into their goal to make it lightweight.

Comparing Hardware Specs

The 13-inch model starts at $999, and the 15-inch model starts at $1,299. Weighing in at 3 pounds and 0.3 inches thin, the latest MacBook Air is an impressive feat of engineering. Even with all of its upgrades, the new version still manages to have one of the best battery lives of any laptop on the market today (12 hours). If you’re looking for a lightweight computer that’s also extremely powerful and chic, this is the one for you.

The new MacBook Air has a range of options. Both models come with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, but if you need more room, you can opt for 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. An Intel Core i7 processor is standard in both machines, as is 802.11ac Wi-Fi. The entry-level 13-inch model has a 1,440-by-900 display (with a 128 ppi pixel density), while the 15-inch model sports a 2,560 by 1,600 screen (227 PPI). You can also choose between integrated graphics or dedicated AMD Radeon R9 M370X graphics cards that are built into each machine.

Battery Life Compared to Previous Models

The battery life is up to 12 hours. Apple claims that they have gotten up to 9 hours on the more powerful model, which would be a fantastic result and make it more comparable to a laptop. The display is beautiful and has a resolution of 2560 x 1600. It weighs in at just 2 pounds with an 11-inch screen and 2.75 pounds with a 13-inch screen, making it easy to carry everywhere. The build quality is also improved over previous models with an edge-to-edge glass touchpad that’s over 50% larger than those found on previous models, making for an even better user experience.

Screen Improvements

– Retina Display (2) – Larger, Force Touch Trackpad – Height and Width Rival Previous Models – Improvements to Ports/No Optical Drive

The new MacBook Air is thinner and lighter than previous models, with a slightly taller screen than earlier models. The device will come in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes with resolutions of 1,440 x 900 and 2,560 x 1,600 respectively. The display also has a high contrast ratio and low reflectivity coating to ensure maximum visibility outdoors or in brightly lit rooms.

Upgrades from Previous Models

One of the upgrades from previous models is the Retina display. The Retina display on the MacBook Air has a 2,560-by-1,600-pixel resolution that’s 220 pixels per inch, which is much higher than other laptops with screens of similar size.

The keyboard has also been upgraded to make it quieter and more responsive than the older version. The battery lasts up to 12 hours on a single charge (compared to 8 hours on older models).

There are two Thunderbolt 3 ports so you can connect two 4K displays at once, which makes multitasking easier than ever before. It has three microphones for clearer voice calls and audio recording and each one contains an individual amplifier for better sound.
