Coding Terms: What You Need to Know

Coding is all about making things. Computers are the tools we use to make things happen, and coding is how you use them. There are many different types of software that can be used to create something new or improve existing products, such as websites, games, apps, and more. In this guide, we’ll discuss what coding terms mean so you know exactly what they mean when someone asks you about their job!

Coding Terms

Coding is the process of writing code. It can be thought of as a way of communicating instructions to a computer, which in turn performs tasks according to those instructions. Coding is similar to writing, except that it is done in a language that computers can understand–called “computer programming languages.”

Computer programming languages are special kinds of languages used by programmers (also called “coders”) to write programs that instruct machines on how they should perform certain tasks like playing video games or analyzing DNA sequences.

What is a Computer?

A computer is a machine that can store, retrieve, and process data. A computer is used to carry out complex calculations, which are then stored in its memory. The most common type of memory is called RAM (random access memory), which allows your computer to run programs while they’re being loaded into RAM.

Computers are also used to store and retrieve data from their hard drives, floppy disks or other storage devices such as CDs or DVDs; they may also have some type of Internet connection so they can connect directly with other computers over the Internet without needing any software installed on them at all!

How do Computers Work?

A computer is an electronic device that can be programmed to perform specific tasks. Computers are made up of a processor, memory, and storage.

Computers store information in binary code (1s and 0s), which is like a language you can read. Computers process information using logic gates that make decisions based on the input data they receive from their sensors or other components within their system. This processing allows for faster reaction times than humans could achieve by themselves because computers use algorithms instead of raw intuition to solve problems; thus making it easier for humans to interact with computers as opposed to just relying on them blindly following commands without any understanding behind why certain things happen at certain times which should give us more confidence when interacting with technology because we know exactly why things happen rather than guessing blindly into darkness while trying not hit ourselves too hard when trying out new apps/gadgets/etcetera…

Types of Software

The software can be classified into four categories:

  • Operating system (OS)
  • Application software includes programs that you use to run your computer or perform specific tasks, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. It also includes web browsers and email clients like Gmail or (formerly known as Hotmail).
  • Middleware, also called middleware engines or platforms that provide support for other applications written in other languages (for example, Microsoft Word runs on Windows but uses a different set of code than Google Docs).
  • System software consists of hardware drivers and the kernel which allows machines to communicate over networks using TCP/IP protocols like HTTP/HTTPS etc., along with device management software like Device Manager which allows you to add or remove devices from your computer depending on what type you have installed on it at any given time

A computer language is a coding system that allows users to communicate with computers. Languages are used for different purposes, including programming, data analysis, and business applications.

C++ is a popular programming language that’s used to write applications for Windows and Linux operating systems. JavaScript is another widely used programming language for web pages and mobile apps that run in browsers like Chrome or Safari on iOS devices (including iPhones).

This is the takeaway, but you can also read more about all this stuff.

The best way to learn to code is by doing it. But if you want some help getting started, here are some resources I recommend:

  • Codecademy – An online learning platform that teaches programming through interactive tutorials for beginners (and even intermediate learners). The courses are free and can be completed within an hour or so; there’s even a gamified version of their courses called “Code Challenges” where users compete against each other in challenges based on real-life situations like finding a solution for someone else’s problem or writing code that handles input from user input text box (like what happens when someone asks you “How do I get ?”).

This is a great way to get started, and it’s not the only way. If you’re looking for more information about what coding means, there are plenty of resources out there. We recommend checking out Codecademy or if you want something more interactive or educational than what we have here today!
